The Republic of Malaya is a nation established in 967 AD. It is located in south-east Asia, in the Malayan Peninsula.

History[]

  • 10,000 years ago, early Homo sapiens settled in the Malayan Peninsula.
  • In 967 AD, several tribes in the Malaccan region came together and formed the nation Malacca.
  • In 1123 AD, Malacca became very expansionist and took over the Malayan Peninsula, only stopping after encountering the Siamese in the North and absorbing all other local cultures. The nation then renamed itself to Malaya to assert its control over the peninsula.
  • Since 1231, Malaya has been trading with China, India and Arabia via the Makaccan Straits, making Malacca the trade centre of south-east Asia.
  • Chinese traders spread Buddhism to Malaya in 1344.
  • In 1360, the Chinese recipe for gunpowder was shared with Malaya, leading to the development of early firearms.
  • In 1384, Borneo was invaded by a once more expansionist Malaya, influenced by the Shan Dynasty. The invasion was quick thanks to use of firearms.
  • Spurred by its recent victories in conquering Borneo, Malaya invades Sumatra and Kalimantan in 1386. It's expansion in Java is halted by an already existing nation there.
  • In 1387, Malayan expeditions result in a colony in the Phillipines. The nation continues sending expeditions to the East.
  • The first Malayan American colony is established
